So you think Social Media is just about facebooking? Well so did I until about a year ago. I was once dating a guy who was a Social Media analyst and I used to dismiss it as being an excuse to use facebook at work. I should have listened to him. I'm now a total convert and use Twitter and Instagram to follow the latest trends, conversations, people around the world and locally.
I recently followed a trail of Instagram users to find cyclists living in Japan who could give me tips about a bike trip I had been contemplating from Tokyo to Kyoto.

So what you're not planning a trip to Japan.
How about checking out local restaurants and cafes. We're living in times where people might not be able to buy a house but they can afford to spend a bit on a fancy place to dine at. We also live in an age where we require the most up to date pictures and reviews. People are more likely to eat at a restaurant after seeing photos of the meal. We call that food porn.
Businesses need to get onto social media to promote themselves and the local area.

Just checkout White Horse Coffee's instagram feed.

Try it out now. Search for anything and see what photos pop up that match.
