Sutherland Shire gets one young sassy technologist on its committee (that's me)

A few months back I wrote a letter of concern to the Sutherland council about the lack of business facilities in the area and how this was forcing my company to relocate to the big city with the other 100 million people already working there.
This lead to an email conversation with someone from the Economic Development unit in the shire who encouraged me to get involved with the council's community engagement program. 6 months later I received this letter from the council congratulating me for  being selected for the Shire's economic development committee. I'm a bit sceptical of the process. Just seems like council are just ticking the box next to "community engagement" but it's better than nothing and if anything a way to gain insight into local government.
