Started the ride just outside of Tokyo to avoid the cars. Take the Keio Train line from Shinjuku to Chofu, change for Hashimoto. You can take your bicycle in the train if it is inside a bike bag. Start: Hashimoto station on the Keio Line, west of Tokyo

That's a 2.5 hour drive without traffic. Tip: no traffic on the road when you leave at 5:00 am. Before getting to Bathurst I'd done my google research and had saved a few routes. What city in Australia offers free bike hire from public places*, including libraries, and hundreds of kilometres of bike friendly paths within the city, to the beach and through wineries? Adelaide, South Australia.
I managed to combine my 2 loves over the weekend. Exploring the west on bike. Following the ethnic food trail. Start with a hipster coffee in the inner west, head to Granville for some Lebanese and Turkish goodness. Stop in Smithfield and visit the Dutch shop (hidden in the warehouse district, very, very random) then head to Cabramatta for some Vietnamese madness.

A year ago when someone told me that they cycled to work I thought they were freaking crazy. I currently work in "the shire" about 30 kilometres outside of Sydney. A 30 kilometre trek to work sounded absurd. But after travelling along the Rhine for a week 30 kms sounded easy peasy and it was. I'm loving this ride along the east coast from Sutherland to Sydney. Most of the way is one bike lanes, and bike friendly roads. Yes, I feel safe most of the time. Yes, it's fun. Yes, you should try it one day! Check out the strava activity for more details. I'm not sure why it was such a hard sell getting a group of people to spend the weekend in Canberra. Was it the compulsory school bus trip to the nation's capital that has permanently burnt us?
For the handful of friends I managed to round up what a kick ass biking weekend. Lake Burley Griffith offers 3 different courses for bike riders of all grades. Mini easy rider around the capital and the monuments. Level 2 around the swamp. Level 3 around the countryside. Bike Hire: Mr Spookes Map: Online Distance: 18 kms This winter break I had plans to meet my good friend Carlee in Berlin. I had 3 weeks off work and no other real plans. Until I discovered the European cycle networks and I found EuroVelo 15, an epic 1000 kilometre ride along the Rhine river from Switzerland to Rotterdam. I was roped in straight away. The only challenge was I didn't have a bike. Sorted after several visits to bikes shops and pawn shops around Amsterdam. The Plan: Cycle from Amsterdam to Cologne Timeframe: 1 week Distance: 350 kms Start Date: 15th July 2014 End Date: 23rd July 2014 Where did I get my bike from? I went around a few bike shops in Amsterdam and several second hand bike shops but most of the bikes were cruisers or super pricey. I had nearly given up and was lost in the suburbs of Amsterdam when I found a small shop that was selling Vittorio for 95 Euro. So how much did the equipment cost?
